I just received my OSSC and I love it. I was managing to play my N64 through it perfectly yesterday but now, however, it just tells me ‘No sync’. The console is a PAL RGB modded Tim Worthington. I have checked the cable and it works fine through other monitors. Could this be a problem with the internals of the OSSC?September 19, 2017 at 7:57 PM #15174
Are your other consoles still working ok with the OSSC?September 19, 2017 at 8:28 PM #15175
Yes, All other consoles work fine. I just managed to get it to work but has now stopped again. I plugged the N64 straight into the RGB Scart on the TV and started up Rogue Squadron and it found the 480i singnal no problem, then I unplugged it form the TV and tried it back through the ossc, this time it worked, So I turned off the N64 and put in NBA live 99 and it still worked, though it looked like the ossc was continuing to bob deinterlace the picture. I then turned everything off and then back on with the console going into the ossc and now I have no picture with either game. Hope you followed that. This is really weird.September 19, 2017 at 10:53 PM #15178
Which N64 do you have and which RGB mod? What kind of SCART cable?September 20, 2017 at 5:58 AM #15184
NUS-001(EUR) with Tim Worthington RGB mod wired for use with Super Nintendo NTSC CSYNC from Retrogamingcables.co.uk. Do you think I should try the Luma as Sync cable instead?September 20, 2017 at 9:35 AM #15186
Would be worth a shot, especially if it’s an older csync cable. N64s modded with Tim’s board do not usually cause problems with OSSC.
Are you forcing the console to run NTSC software (e.g via Everdrive) or are you running PAL cartridges?September 20, 2017 at 4:42 PM #15191
No, not forcing anything, just plain old PAL n64 games. I’m going to try this cable when it comes back in stock;(https://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/nintendo/super-nintendo/super-nintendo-pal-rgb-av-scart-cable-lead-cord-for-sale)
Unless you can recommend any other ones? I don’t trust the cheap ones on eBay.September 20, 2017 at 5:19 PM #15197
Are you sure that’s the right cable for your N64? Usually Tim’s board uses a NTSC SCART cable, but it depends how the jumpers have been set on the board internally.September 20, 2017 at 10:09 PM #15218
Is that “NTSC CSYNC” cable wired to CSYNC pin of multiAV or does it strip sync from composite?September 23, 2017 at 10:35 AM #15299
It turns out that it was definitely the wrong cable. I have tried it with the sync on luma and scart and it seems to be working perfectly. I’m a tad annoyed at the guy who modded my console as he specifically told me that it was the correct cable. nevermind, just glad it’s working and I haven’t damaged anything.
