This kit is for those of you that want to assemble an OSSC yourselves but are having trouble tracking down some of the more difficult to find components. Please note this is not a complete kit and you will still be required to source some components yourself. The PCB and case are also NOT included here, but can be purchased separately here.
As of 14/12/17 the kit no longer contains the component video connector as this is readily available here. Instead, we include 4 x 3M Mounting Fixings, suitable for the base of the OSSC unit, which can normally only be bought in minimum quantities of 56.
This kit contains the following components:-
4 x 3M Mounting Fixings (rubber feet)
1 x Altera Cyclone 4 chip (EP4CE15E22C8N)
1 x Aluminium cooling heat sink
1 x Component video connector (3 x RCA jack)
1 x Firmware chip (pre programmed)
1 x IT6613E HDMI interface IC
1 x Right angle type SCART socket connector
1 x TVP7002 IC chip
Note – Due to the extremely fragile nature of these components, each Cyclone 4 and IT6613E now ships in a padded Corstat component box. We have absorbed some of the extra cost of this packaging and only marginally increased the price of the kit.

Any estimates for when this advanced kit might be back in stock?
December 16.
Did this come back in stock yet?
Woot! Already out of stock 🙁
when will become available again?
Four in stock now.
where?
Too late sorry, more on the way though (getting the SCART connectors was difficult but I believe I’ve sourced some).
PLEASE message me/email me when this kit comes in please. I will gladly pay double the price for one kit. I really really really need to start and complete this project as it’s the only way my office will feel “right”. Otherwise I’m stuck with emulators and other options I’m just not a big fan of (no offense to those that are).
Thanks,
Rose
Hi, same for me.
I finally managed to order the barebone DIY Kit now, but I don’t want to buy a programmer just to get the firmware running.
So please send me an email when this item is back in stock, too.
BR,
Felix
If “Availability Notification” is an option, I’d like to be added as well. Thanks.
Hello , items in stock soon ?
Our suppliers for the Cyclone 4 let us down but new stock should be on the way.
Ok ! Thx very much
Did anybody have success putting the OSSC together using the latest batch of DIY components?
Mine doesn’t do anything, no LCD backlights, no LEDs.
Soldering should not be the problem, I am very experienced soldering parts like these and double checked everything using a 30x microscope.
Supply Rails all look good (they put out the correct voltage).
Maybe I get access to a Terasic USB Blaster to check if it is the flash.
Found the Problem: last batch contained EP4CE10 Cyclones instead of EP4CE15. Do not solder these, they won’t work!

Is it possible to order this kit without the cyclone ic? I have been wanting to place an order for 6 months now.
When next shipment of OSSC kits come?
As soon as we have our new bank account and can get a PayPal account to pay for them.
Will this and the simple kit be back in stock soon?
Yes hopefully.
I am a total noob at this, so maybe someone here can help me. I want to build a ossc. I am in Canada. What do I need to buy to get a complete working ossc?
The latest BOM can be found here – https://github.com/marqs85/ossc_pcb/raw/v1.6/bom/bom_full.xls
Some of the harder to find parts, along with the PCB and case can be ordered from us, the rest of the parts should be easy to source from local electronics suppliers.
I’ve encountered some issues with the kit after assembly.
after a final inspection of the board after soldering i plumed it into a variable lab psu and applied 5v dc to the board however there was no signs of life, no green led lit and no display backlight/lext.
the first thing i did was examine the fuses and diodes but they all checked out fine so i then started probing the power rails but all the regulators voltages going in and coming out are correct.
the other thing is that the whole board is only drawing around 330mA of current and that seems vastly to low for what it should be, i was expecting around1.0-1.1A?
ive also hooked up my JTAG interface and Quartus can’t even detect a device on the jtag chain so im at a loss as to what i should do next?
Hi, please post in our DIY kit support forums https://www.videogameperfection.com/forums/forum/ossc/ossc-diy-kit-support/ hopefully the community will be able to assist you.
Hi
Will this kit be back in stock soon ?
Thank you
Yes, just waiting on some firmware chips
